Thanks for the suggestion - we thought about that, as well as about
options for users to publish their annotations on our servers.
Eventually, we decided for a simple request-response approach with a
single Python script, for reasons of scalability and management.<br>

Note that the potential audience for this tool is huge. In the European
Union alone, there are more than 19 Million businesses. With just a
bunch of researchers managing the whole project, we had to choose a
straight-forward, simple solution.<br>
<br>
And since GoodRelations should become "the FOAF of e-commerce", we were
naturally inspired by the various foaf-o-mat / foaf-a-mat tools online
that help people create RDF/XML without understanding all the
background.<br>
<br>
I really think it is important that we bring data from non-community
members on the Web: Your hairdresser next door, the home improvement
market in your city, any tax consultant etc.<br>
<br>
Note that already having contact details and opening hours of a massive
amount of businesses will show immediate value for Web of Data
applications: You could quickly search for a grocery shop that is close
to your home and which is still open.<br>

812515).
