GoodRelations is a standardized vocabulary for product, price, and company data that can (1) be embedded into existing static and dynamic Web pages and that (2) can be processed by other computers. This increases the visibility of your products and services in the latest generation of search engines, recommender systems, and other novel applications.

Dear all: Peek & Cloppenburg, a major German retailer for clothing with stores all across Europe, has added GoodRelations in RDFa to the individual store pages. The interesting thing is that they expose both opening hours and "brand availability", e.g. data on which garment labels will be available, on a per-store basis. Example: HTML: http://www.peek-cloppenburg.de/service-kontakt/p-c-haeuser/standort/?no_cache=1&locationId=a1u6sdntb8&iso=DE&rbpwbrdet=az RDF/XML via PyRDFa: http://www.w3.org/2007/08/pyRdfa/extract?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.peek-cloppenburg.de%2Fservice-kontakt%2Fp-c-haeuser%2Fstandort%2F%3Fno_cache%3D1%26locationId%3Da1u6sdntb8%26iso%3DDE%26rbpwbrdet%3Daz&format=pretty-xml&warnings=false&parser=lax&space-preserve=true Unfortunately, Peek & Cloppenburg does not provide a sitemap of all store pages, so crawling all the data is a bit difficult. Also, note that the RDFa is included in the HTML-only pages only, not in the default Flash variants. PyRDFa and Sindice can both parse the triples, despite the fact that the page itself is not valid XHTML and does not include a proper RDFa DOCTYPE. Take this as an indication that the W3C technology stack for linked data is now pretty mature and robust ;-) Best wishes Martin Hepp -- -------------------------------------------------------------- martin hepp e-business& web science research group universitaet der bundeswehr muenchen e-mail: hepp at ebusiness-unibw.org phone: +49-(0)89-6004-4217 fax: +49-(0)89-6004-4620 www: http://www.unibw.de/ebusiness/ (group) http://www.heppnetz.de/ (personal) skype: mfhepp twitter: mfhepp Check out GoodRelations for E-Commerce on the Web of Linked Data! ================================================================= Project page: http://purl.org/goodrelations/ Resources for developers: http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/GoodRelations Webcasts: Overview - http://www.heppnetz.de/projects/goodrelations/webcast/ How-to - http://vimeo.com/7583816 Recipe for Yahoo SearchMonkey: http://www.ebusiness-unibw.org/wiki/GoodRelations_and_Yahoo_SearchMonkey Talk at the Semantic Technology Conference 2009: "Semantic Web-based E-Commerce: The GoodRelations Ontology" http://www.slideshare.net/mhepp/semantic-webbased-ecommerce-the-goodrelations-ontology-1535287 Overview article on Semantic Universe: http://www.semanticuniverse.com/articles-semantic-web-based-e-commerce-webmasters-get-ready.html Tutorial materials: ISWC 2009 Tutorial: The Web of Data for E-Commerce in Brief: A Hands-on Introduction to the GoodRelations Ontology, RDFa, and Yahoo!
